I am weary. CH is upstairs napping. I am ignoring the kids as they trash the house. I am numb. The dishes don’t even bother me. We spent the morning standing on a field pretending to be excited and freezing our asses off watching our son experience his first ‘real’ SPORTS DAY. DUN DUN DUUUUN! Seriously, they need to hire parents of preschoolers and kindergartners or - conversely - the teachers, to come up with slow torture …the military really needs to tap into this. 3.5 hours. Stand

Wikis, video conferencing, in-house IM's and blogs...the list continues to grow when it comes to staying connected in the workplace. I'm not sure--universally--how much of the available "connecting" technology is being used effectively or used at all in many organizations. But I do know this: The next generation of workers will simply expect it as a matter of course. For them, it's life...not new technology. Andy Updegrove has the news that South Africa has filed an official appeal, protesting the approval of OOXML, and the action means that OOXML is now in limbo until the appeal is decided. I wonder if this is why Microsoft suddenly decided to support ODF, to avoid being shut out completely pending the appeal.
